Alumni Profile: Zanele Kabane
Zanele wants her passions to change the world. She is passionate about using her love for writing and creativity to make a real impact on the world. She graduated with her Honours in Media Theory and Practice and started working at Ogilvy and Mather in Cape Town as an O25 graduate doing copywriting and strategy with her biggest achievement here being a Loeries finalist. She wants to build her career in advertising, particularly copywriting, and work towards being a creative director in the future. She says her degree helped to refine her writing skills and helped her discover what topics she is passionate about. She says that the most valuable lesson she learnt at UCT was, “hard work, showing up and learning on the job are key to achieving your goals- talent isn’t everything”. She advises incoming students to avoid procrastination (just start that essay), always ask for help and to grab every opportunity, apply for every internship, join at least one society.
