CFMS PhD Kene Chibogu doing exchange at LMU, Germany
Kenechukwu Chibogu, CFMS PhD candidate, has commenced his exchange programme at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), Germany. Chibogu is participating as part of CFMS UCT - LMU exchange agreement which was launched in 2017 in order to promote and facilitate academic exchange among students of the institutions.
Prof. Herman Wasserman, Director of CFMS, helped set up the exchange and also visited the university last year as part of his Humboldt Fellowship. LMU is a public research university located in Munich, Germany. This semester exchange is jointly funded by UCT’s International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) and International Exchange office of LMU.
Read Chibogu’s first feedback as a new exchange student at LMU:
“While at the programme, I intend to utilise some of the resources of the institution to complete my doctorate degree. I have a target to submit my dissertation before end of first quarter of 2019. I am optimistic that by combining an array of resources available at UCT and LMU, it is possible to achieve this goal.”
“Since arriving here in Munich end of September 2018, I have been trying to adapt to an entirely new culture such as language and way of life. Even though it has its own challenges, it is part of the knowledge of the histories of the world we live in.”
The visit is a timely one as his arrival coincides with the popular traditional Bavarian culture tagged “Oktoberfest”, an annual beer, food and music festival in Munich.
