Course outline
The course deals with media and development within the African context. It provides an exploratory overview of media developments in the context of a changing world, looking particularly at Africa’s position in a shifting geopolitical landscape. Different approaches to global development and socio-political change will be explored to understand the ways in which media has historically been seen as a vehicle for social change and national development.
DP requirements
Attendance at all classes; punctual submission of written work.
Assessment
Two essays (25% each) and a research paper (50%)
